Ms. Jamie Batterman
I am a proud Western Nebraska native, raised in Bridgeport. Shortly after graduating from high school, I began working in the human services field as a migrant health outreach worker and in reproductive health care intake. I graduated from Chadron State College in 2001, earning a B.A. in Human Services with a Family and Consumer Sciences Comprehensive, and worked as the Area Office Coordinator for the Nebraska Health and Human Services System, Regulation and Licensure Department. While I loved this career field, my passion for learning and teaching took me back to the college classroom. In 2006, I completed a B.S. in Education and began my teaching career. I have taught courses in Family and Consumer Sciences, Human Sciences and Education, Health Sciences and Special Education. I earned a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction/Career and Technical Education in 2019. In 2020, I completed an administrative certificate for grades 7-12 and obtained Trauma-Skilled Specialist Certification.
Teaching a diverse courseload for 14 years provided me with the gift of teaching thousands of students, each with unique backgrounds, perspectives and needs. The opportunity to coordinate intiatives for the School Climate Transformation Grant has presented an incredible opportunity to incorporate my understanding of the helping professions with my passion for education. I enjoy collaborating with our school and community stakeholders as we strive to support our students and their connectedness to school.
