How old does the child have to be?

Must turn 3 or 4 on or before July 31 of this year

How long is the preschool day?

The half day option is 3 hours. We have a morning and an afternoon session, a snack is served at each, but no lunch at either session.

AM: 8:15 – 11:15

PM: 12:15 – 3:15

The full day option is 7 hours. This session has a snack in the morning, a snack in the afternoon, and lunch mid-day. the full day session is:

8AM - 3PM Stadium Site

8:15AM-3:15AM Roosvelt Site

Is there transportation?

No. A few of our students ride a small bus that is designed to support their needs but this is part of their IEP and not available to our regular education preschool students.

Where is it located?

We are located under the stadium on 2nd Avenue beween the high school and middle school. There is a sign and a playground out front!

Roosevelt Site is located at Roosevelt Elementary 1306 9th Avenue.

What are the fees?

There is a sliding scale – 3 different prices. We use the school lunch eligibility guidelines that the elementary schools use. If your child qualifies for free lunch or if older siblings in our district

How many students are in a classroom?

The maximum is 20 per classroom with a teacher and a para, so at the most there is 1 adult per 10 students. Bear Cub Preschool has two paraprofessionals in each classroom.

Are teachers certified?

Yes, our teachers have Nebraska teaching certificates like all teachers in the district as well as early childhood endorsements. The paras have also been through a process for para certification.

How do I register my child?

Bring a certified (raised seal) birth certificate for the preschool child and an immunization record. Come in to the preschool (stadium site) office and fill out the paperwork in the registration packet. We will make a copy of the birth certificate and accept your completed paperwork, including the free/reduced lunch forms (you must fill this out even though siblings are receiving these services).

When does the program start?

It follows the regular district calendar with just a few exceptions.

When are the fees due?

Tuition is due on the first of each month.
